Re: [BNW] point-based system?

Well. I'm currently in a Golden Heroes game. If any of you remember,
Golden Hereos was a british superhero RPG where ALL of the characters
powers were randomly rolled.
Uh-huh.
And those powers that you couldn't reasonably tie into your character
story, you just flat out lost.
The game itself is okay, but it's the GM that is making it fun (as in all
RPGs). I just wanted to mention that
A) The complete randomization of my PC is forcing me to "play outside of
the box." I have a bit of a rut to what I like to play, and my current
character is nothing like that. :-)
B) The new Marvel Superhero's card based RPG blows vomitous chunks, at
least that's my opinion of it after having created one character and heard
about a test running of it. That is also random character creation.
C) Any and every point based system leads to min-maxing of the numbers...
ala the early Champions high con - low figured characteristics trick.
Which is why Feng Shui elected for a pre-built character system - it avoids
the bad luck=sucky character and the point-accountacy tricks.
However, I don't see a pre-built character templates as being viable for a
Super Hero RPG.
So.... what I'm saying is :-) that I have no idea what the system will be
based off of, but I'll have to look at everything around it to know if I'm
gonna pick up the game.
