I started on it last year about this time, although I've only been full-time
on it since the beginning of '99. It's not as much time as I'd like, but my
other Pinnacle duties have kept me pretty busy.

Interesting... Are you going to have a good way of creating new
packages? Of having progression within packages ("I started out with
the 'Fly' package, but after a while I got better/more sophisticated
with it...") (Again, if ya can't say....)<<
Something different. ; )

Not in the main book. I'm going for a simpler rules set to start with. I may
toss that kind of stuff into the worldbook. Also, every book we come out with
will have more packages for people to play with.

Nope. Unfortunately, we can only hit so many shows. I'll be at Wizard World,
San Diego, Origins, GAMA, and Gen Con this year.
As for the power packages:
I certainly wouldn't mind a better name for them. All suggestions will be
entertained.
I'm pretty set on using the power packages. This is not a game in which any
kind of hero fits in. There's a distinct power level for one. Also, certain
kinds of heroes just don't fit the theme well and can alter the game
substantially.
This is NOT a generic superhero roleplaying game. This is Brave New World, and
it's got its own story behind everything that happens. Some of the secrets
won't be revealed at first, but when all's said and done, you'll understand
why things have progressed the way they have.
Sure, I could come up with a system that allows you to build any kind of
character you like, but there are great systems out there for that already. If
you don't like the official system, you could always just use HERO or GURPS
(both fine systems) to play with the setting.
Personally, I find systems that require me to spend hours on character
creation a bore. I don't see the power package system as limiting. I see it as
saving me and my Narrator hours of work on balancing a hero and making sure he
fits in with the setting. The idea here is that the work's been done. It's
just that we've done it for you ahead of time.
True, that's not going to satisfy those players that like to tinker with
rules, but hey, you guys aren't going to stick to power packages anyhow are
you? You're going to come up with your own, and that's fine. In fact, it's
great. Come up with new ones and send them in. We can always use more ideas. ;

Thanks for the feedback.
