First off, DNA is a double helix, not a spiral. And I believe what your
describing is called gene linking. Its why most naural blondes have blue
eyes. The alleles are right next to each other on the helix, so they tend
to get swapped out on the same section when gametes are made. (In case your
wondering, each gamete takes exactly one half of the parent's DNA since
each gene comes in a pair; whole sections of the DNA appear to assemble
into the gamete, rather than each individual gene glomming on by itself.)
What makes everything more complex is that certain complicated parts of a
human like skin color (Or super powers?) are actually defined by groups of
several genes, like a binary code, so ABCD is black hair, while aBcD is
brown, and abcD is blonde, for example.
