[BNW] Bargainers and Totems

OK, let me say right off that I really like the Bargainer power
package. The traditional bargainer reminds me of an old Marvel RPG
character of mine: "Presto," a stage magician who could actually
create/destroy small objects with sleight of hand tricks. This package
can cover a lot of mystic, Dr. Strange-type characters with a minimum
     of fuss.

One question I have, though: the book says it is difficult and
dangerous to create totems, especially if the bargainer fails while
doing so. But the rules I read don't seem to indicate any consequences
of failure, other than the bargainer starting over again from scratch.
Is that all that happens if you don't make your Spirit roll?

After playing as many hucksters as I have, I am naturally suspicious
of such an easy out for playing with demons . . . anything I'm missing
     about all this?
