project his shield away from his/her body? Maybe even throw it? I'm
trying to give my character a modern Captain America kind of feel, and
I'm thinking this would make a cool custom attack. What do you think?

Hey Stacy......
Canadian Crusader huh? Got a "Captain Canada" ready for our upcoming
Glory days set of games.......
Anyhoo........ I came up with this little trick for Cap'n C
(He/she...whichever the character ends up being!) since the good Captain is
also a Defender. Use it if ya like.......
>Shield Slinging: Allows the hero to throw the energy shield at as a ranged
attack. Here's the process : on the first action they
decide to use the trick, the hero must get an extra success
on a TN5 Spirit roll. On the next action, the shield
can be thrown at a target, using the Throwing skill.
The damage is STR+5 and the Range is per the throwing
rules (the shield is considered Size 1 for determining
the range maximum). On the hero's next action, they
can then re-generate the energy shield for further uses.
To me (to be read...In Our Campaign), this makes a pretty good attack for the
Defender without making them TOO powerful. The Spirit roll is to "mentally
prepare themselves for the stain of holding all that energy together at a
distance". Then, the throw of course. I chose Size 1 because, let's face
it, it's a thin piece of energy, IMO. I like the throwing rules, so tis
trick seemed a natural. Also liked Captain America's energy shield from a
few months back. Cap's a favorite oif mine..... have to let y'all see the
Glory Days Scrapper i've cooked up...WITH the patriotic shield, of course!
Anyway...that's my trick for the Defender's ranged attack. Mileage may
vary.
