This is awfully close to what I think might be happening. here is what I think is going on, and Matt refused to comment on ...
First, The bomb was a successful bargainer/gadgeteer device. Facade made the "bargain" to get rid of all those pesky threats to his power and security (Superior and the other Alphas) and the bargain price was every living thing in Chicago.
Second, what the bomb did was push the city of Chicago into another plane of existance. SInce Bargainers said that there are many "unaligned" planes as infernal or angelic ones, where they went is ANYONE's guess.
My take on Crossroads is that after the Alphas somehow manage to come back accross the planes (I am guessing that Iron Mask may be involved here), one of two things happen.
One possibility is the war of the angelic and demonic heats up on earth, and mankind must choose which side we are on.
The other possibilty is that whatever gate the Alphas come back through stays open, and we become a sort of meeting place of many planes, sort of a Casablanca of the multiverse.
Either way, I look forward to the answers.
