[BNW] What's high school life like?
Gudday all,
In case you haven't guessed by my slightly generic greeting, I'm an
Australian, and had the {hrrm} experience of going to a coastal city high
school when I was a young 'un. In comparison to the city of Brisbane an hour
away, our lot were far more relaxed when it came to life - less stress than
the city, and seen for some strange reason as slightly provincial. I also
grew up on a coastal town, during school breaks, and there wasn't much more
to do than surf, play golf and watch videos. Not exactly teeming metropolis
stlye living.
So these little comments, while exercising the demons, are leading to a
question : why is Caiman city where it is ? Is it
* a tourist driven economy
* an industrial one that supports outlying farms and production centers
* a support town built around a university or a military base
* a city defined a past historical need and now foundering to find its place
* Just one of those places which seems to have had none of the above, but
prospered anyway.
OOOOhhhhhhh. AN idea just hit. { I know, I'm a melodramatic old ham, but
indulge me if you will }

Okay, if you read Starman by James Robinson, and his fictional setting of
Opal City, the city's founders were heavily involved in the arcane and
murkying up the political and financial waters for their own gain. Perhaps
Caiman City's founders were just such a group, making deals with the
netherwolrd to make their city prosper at the expense of their citizens. For
example, maybe slaves were traded and executed as part of the deals. Or
"disasters" would occur in the poorer areas. An entire city founded on pain,
misery and commerical exploitation.
Cheers,
CAmeron twine
