It seems like steampunk is the flavor of the week.

Phil Foglio has just put out a comic book called Girl Genius.  (Think 
Dragon magazine, not XXXenophile.)

It's not bad.  The setting is Victorianesque but Mad Scientists are the 
aristocracy and rulers of the world.
