That's an interesting observation, there. I thought some of the mishaps were
particularly harsh for what the devices did. Like the Climbing Spider, for
instance. 8d8 to the Guts for a Catastrophic Mishap? If I ever use it, I
plan to change that to something like "The Spider's legs freeze up and lose
their hold on the wall. The user takes appropriate falling damage, with
special attention paid to the Spider's weight should its user fall into deep
water."

Nope. I went back and reread it a couple of times to make sure it said what
you thought it said. Yep, it does. I guess the steam wagon in the picture
below the description will only be invisible from inside the boiler! I'm
also not sure how painting one's clothes renders one invisible. Wouldn't you
simply 'appear' to be naked (or at least, in your Skivvies)?
No idea.
