Actually, Simone is the feminine equivalent of Simon, they're not
interchangeable.

I've always suspected that the Baron's rather convoluted history in this
respect (which I don't use in my game, where he's Simon LaCroix) came from
someone accidentally naming him Simone, being told that it was a woman's
name, and doing some serious ret-conning as a result.
