Re: [DL] Passenger Train Economics
Alright, finally dug out my copy of Smith and Robards,
and I have some ideas as to why there is confusion.
The fuel 100 listing for a locomotive is on the
Everyday Vehicles page (page 39). No listing is made
for Ghost Rock trains. In the adventure in the back
it is said for a Ghost Rock train, use the regular
one, but change pace to 50 (from 30). Under traveling
(on page 35) it explains fuel is used for GR. Well,
silly thing, since a regular train doesn't USE GR,
these could be the cases:
1) The fuel is listed for pounds of coal. In which
case 1/50th or 2 lbs of GR would be needed for the
equivalent to move the train 100 miles. This seems to
match the rate of other vehicles.
2) The fuel has the same gremlin that Steam
Velocipede's has .. aka SVs are listed as needing 150
fuel. I believe the ruling is what it means is 1
pound allows it to travel 150 miles. For the Ghost
Train it would mean 1 lb allows it to travel 100 miles
(the bug appears that originally fuel meant distance
travelled per pound GR, and not everything got
translated to, pounds GR per 100 miles).
Personally, I think considering what it has to carry 2
lbs is too little, and maybe up it to 3 or 4 lbs per
100 miles. How does that work with the new math?
