Re: [DL] Weird Wars

There’s a weekly comic published in the UK called 2000
AD. Way back around 15-20 years ago (it’s been in
publication for around 25 years now) they ran a story
called “Fiends of the Eastern Front.”

As far as I can remember the story revolved around a
young German soldier who stumbled across the secret of
vampirism within the German Army. There was a select
group of line SS soldiers who were vampires and were
generally used as shock troops. Our young soldier
spends the rest of the episodes attempting to escape
with the knowledge of these troops and the atrocities
they commit with his life. As you can imagine, the
commanding officer of these troops was quite a bit of
work himself and one who was less than forgiving.

Story ends with the soldier wiping out the vampires,
including the commanding officer, but getting himself
infected along the way. Walls himself up in a room
(literally, with bricks), completes his diary entries
(from which the story was being told/read), and shoots
himself in the head (I think silver bullets did them
in).

An interesting story and one that seems to strike a
chord with the new Weird Wars concept. Count me in for
a copy when it’s published.

Cheers,
Mr. B
