I have two great instances:
 
A hero attempted to "grapple" a vampire, after about 2 rounds of toying with him, the vampire shot 24 yards into the air and broke the grapple...
 
A crazy injun took a running leap at a Mojave Rattle, brandishing two Bowie knives he intended to use as pitons. He got himself attached to the beastie's side...then it rolled over.
