Re: [DL] Western Cliches

>Wagon Trails (do they still have them in Deadlands?)

Wagon trains were mostly during the great migration west in the 1830s,
40s and 50s, before the railroads. However, you could still have guides
conduct settlers cross the rockies and into California since the Great
Rail Wars prohibits rail lines from being built in that area.

Other Western cliches:

A plucky sidekick

The school marm

The loyal soiled dove

The sheriff turned bad

The outlaw trying to escape his past

The corrupt politician

The enterprising muckraker

The kindly but judemental preacher

The slimy snake oil salesman

Map of a hidden miner's fortune

A public hanging

Standard enemies: outlaws, Indians, Mexicans, etc.

Forming into a posse and being deputized

Helping the railroads move through hostile territory

Fastest draw/shot/gun in the West

Hiring ornery outlaws for a job

Saloon fights

Bank robberies

That's all I can think of now!
