[DL] Stone

I have no idea if this contains any spoilers but I guess it is Marshal only
material.

In my most humble opinion, Stone should be played as a character and not a
collection of stats. There was a comment made about how much it would suck for
a player if they encountered him and were then told they simply die and had no
chance. To me, there's more to it. You can use a statless NPC without making
the outcome so straight forward and bleak for the players involved.

When it comes to statless NPCs (or situations for that matter) you can still
give players a chance without actually rolling any dice. I like to judge what
happens by the character actions towards the situation. That way crafty
players still get a chance (perhaps even more of a chance then they would get
while using stats).

Anyone can run their game however they like, but I personally believe that
killing off Stone is a mistake. There needs to be an aura of unbeatability in
the Deadlands universe, otherwise, it's just a big monster hunt. After killing
Stone, what do you throw at a posse? BBQ the Devil's Herd, take on the
Reckoners themselves? It just seems like it's starting down a trail that may
be hard to turn back from.
