It's going better for me. My posse's halfway through it -- they survived
the town raid by locking themselves into the jail cell. You shoulda seen
their faces when the creatures started pulling on the bars -- and pulling
them out of the floor!

Me: The creature grabs the bar and pulls (roll behind screen).
Player: Aw, they can't pull those bars out.
Me: You see the mortar begin to crack and the bar bends.
Player: What!?!

Anyway, the cell still gave them time to live while they figured out what
to do. They staked three of the creatures while other creatures ran off
with the deputy and Knaggs (he was /awesome/ to play as the GM!). The
Blessed in the group happened to climb up on top of a building and then
Protection himself through the whole event. Creatures came up, hissed, got
hungry and left to look for something they could grab. He was able to come
down later, but the rest of the posse had survived on its own.

They never rolled high enough on Academia: occult to "know" how to kill
them, though. They came up with the stake idea themselves. Not knowing may
hurt them, yet.

The posse's first reaction when the town gathered in the streets was,
"There's no way we're going after that train!!!" But they /are/ heroes and
have 4 sticks of dynamite they're itchin' to use, so we'll see what
happens next session.

I should point out that this particular posse is a bit ad hoc -- we played
Night Train on the spur of the moment, so they made up characters that a)
they wouldn't be too upset if they died and b) were tuned pretty well to
deal with <something> horrible. I think that gave them a bit of an edge.
Well, that and knowing Night Train is very deadly. With no preamble, they
would have all died. Except maybe the preacher.
