[DL] New Edge: Veteran Of the Great Weird North!

Edge:  Veteran Of the Great Weird North:  0
Maybe it's the easy way that True Northerners handle the cold, or the fact that their cold stare matches that of a Klondike Winter, but some folks in the North have had to weather some of the worst possible situations of man, beast, and monster.  The average Canuck is as hard as ice, cold as a blizzard, and as powerful as a glacier...  Others, who have survived the almost impossible, are even better, if but at a cost.  When you purchase this Edge, your character recieves 15 extra character points at character creation.  However, the Marshal has to draw a card on the VotGWN Table, and show the price you paid for that...  Nothing is free after all, and when experience is the teacher, the lessons given by the "Learnin' Stick" can be downright painful!  (Note:  This is basically a Northern Version of "Veteran Of The Weird West".  In order to get it, however, your character must have spent some time North
of the Winterline in order to get this Edge, as it's designed for those that survived the truely Frigid North!)

2:  Frozen Dinner:  Your Notherner was almost frozen to death, maybe he even died, but came back.  While you were lucky enough not to catch much in the way of frostbite, you never were able to recover the amount of heat you lost, and can feel the cold in your bones, and your very soul!  You can NEVER get completely warm again (Even in a Texas Heatwave!), and almost always have on a heavy coat.  This doesn't mean that you can handle the heat as well (In fact, you're in more danger as you don't realize how hot it really is, and can get a heatstroke even easier than average!), and you *REALLY* hate the Cold!  You
are now "Cold Blooded".
3:  Hunted:  Somethings just don't stay down.  Your Northerner didn't stop whatever he was aiming at completely, and it is still hunting you...  And it's getting closer...  Much, much closer to finding you!
4:  Indian Giver:  You had some dealings with the Natives of Canada that went sour, and they blame you!  One of the Tribes of Canada have declaired you their mortal enemy!!!  This does not make you friends with their enemies, either!
5:  Addicted:  That bit of Medicinal Brandy that you used to keep yourself moving in that -40 weather tasted so good, you had another when you got inside...  And another...  And another...  Welcome to Addictionville, Population:  YOU!  ("Hankerin' to Alcohol").
6:  "Make Like a Bear":  During the cold time of the year, you naturally conserve energy and heat by doing as little as possible.  When out in the cold (Either Natural Winter below the Winterline, or any time above it), your character is a "Heavy Sleeper", even if he's a "Light Sleeper" normally!
7:  Frostbite:  Your character forgot his warm and fuzzys when going out to the outhouse one time, and has paid for it ever since.  Roll 1D6:  1-2:  You lost a few toes, and have "Lame:  Limp"; 3-4:  You ended up loosing the foot, and are now "Lame:  Crippled"; 5-6:  You lost some fingers, and are now a "One-Armed Bandit", luckily it was your non-dominant hand!
8:  Frozen Face:  While it may be perfect for a game of Poker, you still wish you could use your face.  It never changes, save for a few muscles.  In addition to having a slight speech impediment, you are unable to use your face to convey emotion, including Overawe or Ridicule attempts (Done at -2)!  On the slightly more bright side, you gain a +2 to Bluff, and any Gambling roll that involves Bluffing.
9:  Fever:  Nope, not the kind of thing that drives up your temperature...  You got GOLD FEVER!  Well, any precious metal will do...  Gold, Silver, Copper, Ghost Rock...  Anything!  You have a "Yearnin'" to go out there and stake a claim!  Once you have, convert that Yearnin' to Greedy, 'cause it's yours...  ALL YOURS!!!
10:  Blinded By The Light:  Looks like you looked at that pretty wilderness for a bit too long...  Luckily, while it did do permanant damage, it didn't take ALL of your eyesight.  You got Bad Eyes:  Myoptic, and can't get glasses to correct it!
Joker:  Bad Vittles:  You got yourself some bad food while up North...  The good news is, it didn't kill you...  The bad news is, your stomache has never been the same since!  You're a "Finicky" person!
Queen:  Howling Of The Wind:  The wind...  It drives some men mad...  You, it drove deaf!  You got "Bad Ears:  Mild".
King:  The Hungry Wolves Of Winter:  A pack of wolves almost ate you, and left their mark upon your body.  While you aren't a werewolf (At least, from this instance!), you do suffer from "Bad Luck" when dealing with Animals, and any Canine critter (Both Natural And Supernatural!) will attack you first!
Ace:  Winters Cold Kiss:  General Winter has given you the kiss of death, and has drafted you into his army!  While in any Wintery area, you are a "Grim Servant O' Death".
Black Joker:  Colder Than a Miser's Grave:  Well, you went and done it.  You froze to death...  Then got back up!  Your "Death Wound" is that your skin is blue, your touch is literally like ice, and your facial expressions change only slightly.  In addition, you can never, ever get warm again!  Oh, and there's that voice in your head and all the other problems that come with being a walking dead guy.
Red Joker:  "Child of the North":  If the Metis and the Acadians are the true Canadians, then you are even more so!  You have a connection to the country and winter that transcends anything imagineable.  You are able to almost instinctively survive in the cold, by being able to building shelter, deal with blizzards, and avalances, no roll neccessary if it is possible to do those tasks, just spend a White (As Snow) Chip, however, this does not get you fed (Water is easy, just melt some snow!).  In addition, you are able to relate to almost any culture, and can somehow know the faux pas of them, despite never studing them!  While you don't know all the intricacies of the culture, you know the little things that show a bit of base decency, and you only suffer half the penalties when dealing with folks that are "Intolerant" to your culture/religion/ect (The exceptions being those you are "Intolerant" of yourself!).  Finally, your character picks up "Gift O' The Gab" free!  Sweet deal, eh?
