I had to dredge this topic up... I'm watching The Exorcist (old
version) on DVD this morning and it mentions that it's inspired from a
trues tory from 1946 that's local to me even (Silver Spring, MD).

You might want to look for the book that this was written from... i
believe it exists, and may have some passages you can steal.

However, ultimately I have to agree that the miracle as described does
the job, and the rest is background and detail, and one character
shouldn't overtake the entire sequence.

If you want a more involved sequence, you could require that the posse
go as a group into the Hunting Grounds to do so... It might require a
Huckster to open a gate, but could be a fun adventure... Think a
Harrowed dream sequence, but different, with the posse acting as a
group to fight for the possessed soul.
