Actually, according to HoE (Although there wasn't much in the way of details),
the North and South had put their differences aside by WWI and worked together
for it, WWII and Vietnam -- personally, I think Turtledove's current series on
an altenate WWI where the North and South are still seperate countries, "World
War: Homefront" is more likely, and of course you're free to make any changes
you want for your campaign.
