Try this trick, a friend of mine used it to make a sluge river for his
Necromuna games. Take 3/4" pink foam board, and cut it, either with an
exact-o knife or a wire cutter, to the shape you want. Probably a pool
or a river, etc. For a pool you want a disc shape, flat on top. Go over
the top area, except for a thin border about 1" or so around the edge,
with spray paint. The acidic properties in the spray will eat away at
the surface, making it sink in and become rough. White spray works best,
but black is OK too. Then go ahead and paint the border the color you
want the ground in your terrain to be, he used a grey base, and a
progressive layer of light grey drybrushing.
Now for your ooze, paint it bright green, GW's Scorpion Green is
perfect. Make sure you cover it well, and get in all the cracks. For
highlight, go over the tops of the rough surface with a bright yellow,
but only lightly, to make it show up more.
His turned out great, and did'nt take all that long to do.
