[HoE] Psyker story
We played this week and I must say the setting and character choices are
very flexible and help to create a nice pulp apocalypse game. I have
always liked the Doomsayer and templar concept, though would not mind
seeing the Blessed b e the true words of God (though very rare).
I run a pretty rule-light, dialogue intensive game (maybe to the dismay of
some) but it is a good way to play, especially with 7 PCs in the group.
Anyway, I was initially put off by the psyker idea (from reading the
rules- it was a bit of a stretch and lacked the feel of the game). Upon
seeing PCs play them (we have two) as the survivors of another war, the
idea is great. in fact one of my PCs started to have falash backs of a
slaughter on the faraway during the game. he built it into his character
(or should say it evolved) and in time of crisis or certain situations he
reacted as on Faraway. One time, I said it was drizzly and gray and he
was looking at a hotel thinking when he saw ..the monolith in front of the
skinny lair. He knew they were laying ambush to a colony of families-
innocents- but that is how the war went. After some time, the other
psyker saw the Faraway Look and ran to him, but it was too late, he was
already blasting the monolith- hotel.
The Long and the short is nice job to the creators. I hope the Psyker
book portrays the Psykers as lost in this 'new' world and thus clinging
tighter to what they have- their memories and friends. I would also like
to see some Disads about the classic 'Vietnam' or "Gulf War' alienation-
and rememberance. It lends a lot to the PCs.
Thanks
