I will personally attest to the fact that MRE's have gotten much better
tasting in the last few years. It also seems like the nutritional value
has also increased (makes you feel more invigorated than they used to).

Here's the sick thing though, I always liked the old MRE's as well. Lots
of people used to bitch about the taste, but I always liked whatever was
in the bag. Except for 'Egg something-or-other'. I can't remember the
name, but it never quite sit right with me. Little too rubbery. Little
too yellow. 
But they're packed full of vitamins and nutrients! I know that Uncle Sam
set specs that MRE's had to remain viable for a certain time period,
but, personally, I've always believed that they would keep just about
forever.

But, that's just my OT 2¢, and I talk a lot (and the people and ListServ
on this list are much friendlier concerning OT posts than they are on
some of the other lists I'm on. Not that vigilance is bad or
anything....)
