my two cents:
yeah, but it disturbs me that anyone can enjoy this for any length of time.
According to any literature dealing with making deals with the devil, the
mortal never wins in the end.
Personally, I like the heroic game where the good guys win by doing the "right
thing" no matter what. There's real evil in the DL and HoE universes. If you
want to be on the "winning side" by playing an "evil" character, what's the
challenge in that? And what's the point in playing the game other than
getting your jollies in causing misery?
The way i see it, an "evil" posse should have no allies, and a bad reputation.
Who's going to trust people who'll stab you in the back if it serves their
interests? In my world, the good guys might not have all the wealth and
power, they might have to scrabble for each bullet, but at least they're
trying to do something instead of being vultures picking over a carcass. For
every evil posse, there should be possies(the plural of posse?) of law
dogs/templars/blessed willing to hunt them to take them down. Doesn't seem
that there are any of the "real" checks and balances against evil in games
where the players are tempted into playing evil characters. IMO, there should
be no reward in "converting" an already evil person to the manitous, their
souls are already headed for hell and a good person wouldn't convert. The
manitou should have its own agenda not just a power boost for the character
with no price. The "evil" posse should just become thugs for it with no will
of their own, .
Sorry for the rant but I've had too many games ruined by players who thought
being "evil" allowed them to do anything, including ruining game for the rest
of the group.
