Face it, anyone nice enough to take "good" >care of a kid is also too
nice to properly defend her.

If I were a Templar and deemed her worthy I'd drag her to Boise and put
her in training.  And if I were anyone else I'd want to keep her with me
because she is better in a fight than most of my companions.
