I'll buy the S&R argument : ).  Although... I would say that each device
is different from all of the others.  I mean, they might be using the
same plans, but each MS has a different muse whispering in his or her
ear, and what MS could resist the urge to add something that'll make
that plain old steam tank so much better??  Also, the notorious
unreliability of Mad tech would be likely to cool the ardour of military
purchasers... nobody wants to be the one the finger's pointing at when a
tank blows up and kills a squad.  (This just seems likely to me... there
are folks on this list who do this stuff... let me know if I'm in error,
ok?  *S*)
    The automated factories I have no explanation for... but I LOVE the
idea of their being Mad inventions themselves... I mean, just imagine
what the malfunction table for THEM would be!!!!!!!!!!  *truly evil
thoughts going through my mind...*
