Maybe so, but i bet you it won't be commonplace. if Lost Colony is set 
in the Faraway system, remember theres been a pretty apocalyptic battle 
there too - though granted no ghost rock bombs (?). The place has been 
abandoned by Earth, leaving those stranded (and the ones who wanted to 
stay) along with the aliens reclaiming a planet ravaged by war. i reckon 
there will be a higher level of tech, but it will be on the decline due 
to lack of spares, ammo, energy etc. 

i'm already sold on it anyway :)
