If I'm not mistaken, the section in the book says something about Junkers being Mad Scientist/Hucksters that, after having the manitous withdraw their influence, learned how to force the manitous into compliance. Hopefully the Junker book will go into more detail, but do Junkers retain any Huckster abilities?
