What was meant was the following I think:

Do you make your players take the Veteran of the Wierd West to be a
blessed, a huckster, or shaman? 

Not all three at once, just to be one of them.  BTW, I have it on authority
from a very high source that shamans may be making an appearance in a HOE,
albiet in a changed manner.
