For some reason this passage reminded me of a post-apocolyptic series that
I thought was very cool: The Horse Clans series, by Robert Adams. (At
least I think that's who wrote them....)

It's a 17+ volume set with most books being more or less around 200 pages.
The series represents a continguous story from fairly soon after an
apocolyptic event (I read them many, many years ago, so I don't recall the
exact event or if the author even tells you), up to and through the
rebuilding of a large part of society. And its all set in the United
States. Generally, a featured main character appears in every 3-6 books
which keeps things fresh (to me at any rate).

Its much lower tech than Hell On Earth, but an enjoyable, fairly easy and
quick read. (Yes, all 17 books!!)

Take care,

Derek

(The trick, I would think, is finding all of them. :-)
