I think we possibly have the cause of the over grown jungle theme right in
Wasted West.  Isn't there a tropical rainforest that grows about ten feet
a day???  Now imagine that all the edges expand out at 10 feet a day and
consider how long it would go unchecked (assuming Faraway is Earth and
something happened).  You also have to remember that there was only one
huge continent a long long time ago. . .so why can't the continents
eventually meet up again?  At that point in time, the jungle effect could
be trans-continental leading to a global forest preserve.
