[HoE] Hucksters in HoE



Here's how I would handle Hucksters in HoE:

Experienced Hucksters: +4 to Backlash.  Due to the high Fear level, manitous 
are more powerful.  They've gotten trickier...but the Hucksters have had 
just as much time to perfect their art.

New Hucksters - use the following edge:
Arcane Background: Part-time Huckster (1 pt) - Your character does not have 
the dedication to be a full-time Huckster in the post-apololyptic era.  
Either you haven't had the years of experience (a decade or more) necessary 
to function properly in the changed magical environment of HoE, or your 
other activities have prevented you from focusing on your Huckster skills.  
Either way, you take the following additional penalities to your Huckster 
powers.  First, both Red and Black Jokers cause Backlash.  Second, you may 
not purchase any Huckster edges, such as Arcane Prodigy or Old Hand.  
Finally, you may not raise your Hexslinging skill above 5.  It is possible 
to purchase the full-fledged Arcane Background if (in the Marshal's opinion) 
the character has spent sufficient time and effort on his skills.

This is a lot simpler than having three different versions of Hucksters.  
The 200-year old Huckster, in comparison to a 50-year old Huckster, 
shouldn't have any real advantages besides a higher skill level - they've 
both had time to adjust to the change in power after the bombs.

It also allows for someone to create a viable Huckster who isn't a Veteran 
of the Weird West...although they still have to suffer the +4 to Backlash.  
Or, if someone wants to put some work to it, maybe a HoE Backlash table 
could be created...
