Re: [HoE] Sykers return from Banshee
<< Just something I noticed in "Brainburners" yesterday, in the story
starting the book out, the Legion recieved their recall order on April
12, 2082. However, the Last War ended in 2081, right? Why did the
Banshee Sykers get the order seven months after ther Last War ended? Was
it that it took so long for the radio messages to travel through space
or the Tunnelcom, is it a typo, does it tie into Lost Colony, or is
there more Evil Nastiness (TM) afoot? >>
I'm definitely voting for evil nastiness on this one. I mean, remember what
happened to the Unity right after it popped into orbit over Earth. The
impression I got from the various descriptions of the incident was that
whatever was responsible for the carnage was already on the ship, possibly
before they even left Banshee. But I think that whatever it (they/he/she)
was got on their in transit to Earth. Just a gut feeling.
Now, for some reason, my admittedly twisted mind connects the transmission of
the return orders with the incident on the Unity. I think that the Reckoners
had a hand in it, myself, by luring them through the Tunnel and into some
danger at the proper time. They'd certainly have a reason for it. After
all, imagine if ALL the Banshee sykers had returned intact, along with a
functioning spaceship and high-tech gear. Can you imagine the kind of damage
they'd have done to the Reckoners in the Wasted West?
