[HoE] Killing those pesky PC's. (Regardging Party Trust)

I totally know what you mean about characters
attacking party members, and wanting to be separate,
and all that.

Damn annoying, ain't it?

I'd say, give him the option of either not being so
much of a loner, or the option of taking his character
out of the game. That's pretty much it. Some people
need to realize that people change, and although the
characters situation might not warrant it (since he's
a loner), the player's situation warrrants it.

Also, if he starts getting a hard on for attacking
party members, take him aside once about it. If he
does it again, kill his character in as personal a way
as possible. I know it seems mean, but ultimately,
I've never seen anyone present inter-party killing in
a good light. Ever. I even had one guy who did it
(in a super hero game) who said that he thought the
best way to guage a party's strength was to attack
them.

Ultimately, it just causes way too much trouble.

-------------

As for party trust

The way I figure it, if you've got a group of people
you game with often who all trust one another, then
sticking hard core to the cards means one of two
things. 1) You're a dick about rules, which is okay
sometimes, but IMHO not in Deadlands/HoE. 2) You
don't really trust your players.

If you don't know your players that well, then by all
means be a rules stickler. You never know when
someone is going to try and pull a fast one with you
on cards.

Example - My group
Character creation for my party is relatively simple.

1) You're automatically a Veteran of the Wasted West.
No way around it. I want experienced heroes, and
players enjoy the points anyway.

2) Card draws. Draw until you're happy. I don't
really care if you get all 4 aces and the rest Kings.

3) If you want either jokers, you've got em. Auto.
Go ahead and just draw one less card for each joker
you take automatically.

4) Mutations. If you want a mutation, you draw two
cards, and take the best.

As you can see, me and my party are on really good
terms, so I feel perfectly comfortable about making
their characters more cool than most.

That's it
