I based that statement on the fact that as a Templar or any adventurer type (as you mentioned), he's
probably used to foot-slogging rather than as a reference to a "class" ability. Sorry I wasn't more
clear on that.
As to the walking rate--I admit being at fault. I didn't even look at the WW rate; I've always just
given most folks a walking rate of 4 mph. I can see the justification for a lower rate though. Even with
the 2.5 mph listed in the WW, his daily average is 20--about the mid-point between our two estimates.
However, since the guy had a motorcycle, all this is really beside the point...

I still come up with a circle of 140 miles, or over 15,000 square miles. I can accept more than one or
two settlements--granted, small-sized ones--in that area; I'd even take four or five. Road Warriors
says, "Most of the world is a barren wasteland," and 5 settlements with a support area of even 5 miles
each still leaves more than 15,000 square miles of wasteland in that patrol area. We're not talking a
straight line 140 miles long with 5 settlements along it--we're assuming Ritter patrols a circular area.
Honestly, though, if it was a real problem for me, I'd just write it off to artistic license and have
the stiuation in Jarret be an exception. :-)
Again, that's just my opinion,
