_Would_ templars lose their abilities?  A Templar who leaves the Order but 
doesn't become an Anti-Templar _still_ retains his gifts (although I think 
John Hopler noted that they can't learn new ones).

I suppose one could argue that disenfranchised Templars still retain their 
gifts and rewards from the general "ambience" of the Saints.  I must admit, 
though, the impression I always got was that once a Templar gained a gift, 
it was permanent regardless of his status or location...
