[HoE] Kang's Secret Service (and other oddities...)
Hi,
I just finished writing my adventure for the next HoE
session that I host (week from Sunday).
At the end of the last session, the posse arrived in
what remains of Turlock, CA, which included a ****
(four star, not a swear word) hotel. [in my HoE,
Kang's "empire" of the northwest 'real-life'-USA is
still operating, with him around, even after the
bombs. Yes, he's a good guy in my campaign. Even
Kang's issued-currency is still accepted at face value
in his empire. Honest reason is, I just wanted to let
a player use a character name from Kentucky Fried
Movie and the rest evolved from there]. Anyway, at the
beginning of next session, as they return to their
hotel rooms, they're going to be greeted by Daidoji
Arichi, the head of Kang's Secret Service [reason
you'll find out when you read my report on someday
between 12.12 and 12.14].
Anyway, is it bad to have an NPC that would be very
hard to kill? I don't plan on having the posse and him
have to fight, but you never can tell. I'm thinking of
printing a character sheet for him. I'll post full
stats on request, but he has 5d12+2 guts (in L5R, he
had "Death Trance", but there isn't "fearless" in HoE,
so I can't give him that. This is the closest thing),
6d12 in fightin': sword, and a full Samurai suit.
Now, those who know me (and some who don't) may know
that Arichi was a "great" bodyguard for Doji Kakuru at
"In Memory of..." at Strategicon; I played him there.
In this, he's moved on up [well, same name and
half-based on the original. A plot may come out of it,
I haven't decided yet].
So, the question is, should Arichi be a) weakened, in
case the posse fights him, b) kept the same, or c)
scrapped and make a statless Arichi for the same role,
but risk a fight with the posse if they choose to
fight him?
