A very succinct post covering what I agree are the basic tenents of
running a successful game. Players will often (unknowingly) write out
the game themselves. With suggestions and theories as to what is going
on. This had led to a few of my players muzzling a more pessimistic
member of our posse because they know I am listening. Or as a favorite
quote goes.
<Player> But it could be this! And if thats true it would suck!
<Marshall> -scribbling notes to himself -It sure will now-
The Marshals place is first and foremost a nuetral party adjucating
rules and moving the little bad guy minis. He should realize his job is
to ensure all have a good time and not try and "teach" things to the
posse. Who will, as you had said, quickly head elsewhere when they
realize that this is being attempted.
