[HOE] Urban Renewal Thoughts

Hey all,

I've just finished urban renewal, and I had to drop a line to the list
(Dont worry, I'm not about the restart the cover discussion), now,
admittedly, I'm sonething of a fan (everything HOE apart from infestations
and the CD, both of which are hard to get in the Uk for some reason, or at
least I've found it so..), so take it with a pinch of salt, but also, lets
continue what i think Alan tried to start when he posted that he'd read
the adventure on the way back from a Con, and what did people think?
Well, this is what i think...

Apart from the cover :-) This has to be one of the best adventures I've
read.  I'm hopping with enthusiasm to GM it.  There's something for
everyone in this, I reckon.  Firefights, yes.  Roleplaying.  Oh God Yes!
You get real, honest to god, game benifits for roleplaying in this - if
you roleplay it, you get better results in the adventure, which means you
are more likely to survive.  Now thats positive reinforcement!

I liked the whole multiple entry to the adventure setups, I liked the
final show down, and the ..

...general vilian.  he was very HOE atmospheric, and the both bad and good
guys had reasons for what they were doing.  Also, its not possible to out
munchkin this, thanks to the roleplaying elements (Ok, its difficult!)

Some questions for people (both The Main Man from Pinacle and all you
wasters out there...)

Would you switch towers if the posse went up the one with vail in first of
all, so that they got the full benifit of the encounters and the slowing
down of Vail?

How, exactly, is Vail supposed to be out to get the heroes?  is it just a
matter of the holes in walls stuff, and letting the adventures do the
rest?  I mean, while they are exploring the towers, the adventures start
on them, but does Vail lend a hand when he can as well?  I'm a little
confused on this point..

what happens if the posse DO go nuts and start firing?  how would people
handle this?

This is a classic HOE adventure, and does a lot for me to show how you
should handle scenarious in this setting.  If pinnacle is going to keep up
this standard of adventures, they will definatly be getting my business
(OK, so they will anyway, but I might even start buying Wasted West
adventures to cannibalise..)
