Probably should be on the LC list, so I'm crossposting it there.
LC as redemption fits storytelling-wise. A lot of stories follow the "good
wins the first battles, evil comes back and kicks butt for a while, then
good saves the world/universe/whatever in the end" idea. Star Wars being
the prime example (You can be pretty sure that the bad guys will be in a
good position at the end of the next movie, with the good guys (mostly)
winning in the third (though not completely, as they have to set up Vader
and the Empire. The good guys will be victorious in some significant way,
though.).
To get back to LC, the saving of the Deadlands universe will likely happen
there (and in HOE, as the two are set during the same time period in all
likelihood, or at least relative to each other (Heh, I know what I mean by
that, but it's hard to explain)). Hellstromme gets to do his thing
(whatever that is), probably on Earth. Raven gets stopped. Some group of
people saves LC from whatever plagues it (other than humanity). In the end
we may be booted off Banshee (though I hope not), but things will be
relatively well (or at least in a process of recovery).
Not that it will happen any time soon, probably over a space of two years
or so (realtime), and in a grand sweeping story arc. : }
