Another option (as far as whether to get rid of the "one-hand-higher"
thing) is to create an edge:

"Old Timer" - this edge is only available to Veterans of the Weird West
that have somehow lived for the 200+ years (as opposed to stepping through
a portal from weird -> wasted west). This huckster has lived through all
the changes in this world and the other, and have learned how to tap into
the fewer, but more powerful manitous out there and do not suffer from the
"one-hand-higher" hinderance and/or the +4 on backlash results.

For 3 pts. the huckster can ignore one or the other (pick one and stick
with it).
For 5 pts. the huckster can ignore both.
