RE: [HOE] Possible Interesting villain (Marshals)
Someone mentioned the benefits of Lector and Moriarty (though IIRC Moriarty
was Holmes's equal but not necessarily superior),
I would agree that Holmes and Moriarty were equal, and that Moriarty might
be taken by a Librarian. That may seem contradictory, but though equal,
they had different specialties. Want the perfect observer? Holmes. Want
the perfect analytical mind and mathematician? Moriarty.
As to Lector and Doom, they were both outclassed. Reed Richards was always
better than Doom in science. Maybe not by much in some cases, but he was
better. It's one of the driving characteristics of Doom, to try to outdo
Richards. Ah, but what about Doom's occult knowledge? I would have to say
that's Academia: Occult (Marvel Universe); not necessarily "real world" as
far as HOE goes.
And Lector, well, Will Graham had a better insight into the human psyche (or
psycho psyche), IMHO. After all, he caught Lector. But that gets into my
whole tirade about them bringing back Will Graham to catch Lector if they
did another movie. BTW, I know that Graham himself said he got lucky when
he caught Lector, but the facts don't back him up. The man had gotten so
into the mind of the killer that he simply saw a book on Lector's shelf and
knew he was the murderer. I think he was simply trying to repress how close
he had gotten to Lector when he said that.
But who says that all Librarians are good guys. :-)
Now, that's an interesting idea! A Librarian devoted to saving books... by
getting rid of the pesky people that keep destroying them. :) That's one
for the back burner! Thanks!
