I belive the South either that or the North, it was definitely one of those 
:).  Actually I'm pretty sure it was teh South.  I do recall he was shot in 
the back by his own men.  I know that if you really want a lot of info on 
him get Devil's Tower trilogy of adventures for Deadlands, Hes all over it.  
Especially in the Third Part.
