Re: [HOE] New Junker power [Teller, you might be interested...]

Well, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to have augmented Nimbleness
penalize Nimbleness in the process. I want to allow folks to make
partially-augmentative devices that work, just not without some
complications.

I actually did debate that (penalizing Nimbleness), and my justification for
NOT doing so is thus:

Nimbleness is the Trait that deals with gross motor coordination. While a
surgeon might want good Deftness, a martial artist would benefit more from
good Nimbleness.

You can create partial exoskeletons that augment Nimbleness or Deftness.
For Nimbleness, you'd probably enhance the legs, while Deftness would go
around the arms.

While enhanced Strength and Quickness would rely on things like hydraulics,
servos, artificial muscles, and other things like that, Deftness and
Nimbleness would rely more on things like gyroscopes, balance compensators,
motion cancelers, etc. If you've ever messed with a gyroscope, you know
that if you start it spinning, then try and swing it back and forth with
your hand, that there's resistance of a sort, and it slows your arm down.

So imagine having a few gyroscopes attached to your arms or legs, then
trying to move. They'd be pretty STABLE, just not very quick unless the
whole body was augmented in a way that prevents that from happening.

I do see where you're coming from, and it could be justified either way, but
I figured that Quickness would be a simpler penalty, and I always try to
avoid making house rules too complex.

Glad you like it. I've been mulling over submitting it, but I might wait
until I get the other three powers and my Junker device list finished.
