[HOE] The Librarian's Almanac for October 1st
BROKEN BOW, NEBRASKA- Thomas Putnam, the head of the
Broken Bow Rangers has arrived back in town with the
unconscious form of Harry Knowles, a local
gossipmonger and trader baron who was found three days
east of the enclave. Putnam says that he pulled the
trader out of a wrecked pickup truck in a ditch. Harry
was in the back, bound in ropes and chains but there
is no word of what might have happened to the driver.
Putnam had placed Harry under protective Quarantine in
his home. The trader now has no pulse and a full set
of brand new cyberlimbs.
BUTTE, MONTANA- a waster scavenger named Morris has
pulled out of town in a hurry, and Simone Thunder, the
local Law Dog would like him brought back for
questioning. Morris was making the rounds among local
traders and merchants and asking a huge passel of
questions. All of them concerned a weird man called
Mister Whisper. One of the merchants grilled Morris
about what was so important; Morris only replied that
Whisper had missed an appointment out in Yellowstone
National Park. He also mumbled that there was
something he had to give him. Simone is curious and
has heard a number of weird rumors about Whisper;
there is a three hundred round bounty to the persons
that returns Morris to Butte, unharmed.
BROWNSVILLE REFUGE, TEXAS- Roy Bertram, the newest
Texas Law Dog, is calling for a posse to head out
after a so called “Doctor” Billy Ratchet. A
Cyberneticist by trade, Ratchet had been doing some
dirt-cheap installation work on anyone who could pony
up enough salvage. Things turned ugly when one of his
first patients was discovered dead of strangulation by
his own hand. Bertram is offering several
reconditioned pistols in return for the knowledge of
Ratchet’s whereabouts. Many other locals are anxiously
inquiring about anyone else who might be able to
remove the doctor’s handiwork.
