Well pinnacle generally divides attack powers into 2 categories:
A. powers that directly effect the target (meat puppet, mutate, etc.)
B. powers that create a force or object that harm the target (brain blast,
atomic blast, glow stick, etc.)

A-type powers ignore all armor, B-type powers don't. I would say (and I
think this is pretty close to official) that any B-type power would be
effected by any arcane protection powers (like force-field) and any A-type
powers would not be. Doom Sword (item, not a power actually) would fall
under B-type.
