I don't believe that to be true. As I recall with the Huckster's Helpin'
Hand, the caster can attempt to do so as many times as he wishes; the risk
is dealing with the manitous. In fact, in one of the old dimestore novels,
Velvet had to cast Helpin' Hand several times before he could help Ronan
(prior to being a corpse).
I think the Blessed's problem is if he fails, he doesn't heal the person &
takes on the most serious wound of that person. I think this is bogus;
maybe if the Blessed went bust, but not just for failure...
