I'd say that Templars prove that the forces of good haven't totally
abandoned the Earth.  And if the Saints can give out a few perks, why
couldn't another "benefactor?"

In the case of a super hero (hmmm...or super villain) that gains his power
through a magical artifact, why couldn't that artifact have been around
since before the reckoning and the heroes hear rumors of it and decide it's
worth the risks?
Heh, I'll I can think about now is how funny it would be to send a party to
The Maze looking for this crazy silver surfboard and then have this big
purple guy show up from Faraway threatening to eat the planet.

Playing a bit with the City O' Sin rules for the Blessing O' the Atom gives
you the X-Men all over again.  The battle between the regular humans and
the mutants has already warmed up, why not have a friendly psyker build a
school for mutant children in an attempt to save the world?

I think I'm digging the idea of super power Hell on Earth, but where will
the characters get their yellow spandex body suits in the Wasted West?

Ha!  And  that's a damn good idea! I'll add a concept of Jeff Shoffner
