[HOE] Cheap trick to avoid telling posse AV's

The issue was brought up a while ago aboug AV's being kind of tough,
because there's no way to use them without giving away everyone's armor to
the posse (and thereby telling them something about how "tough" their
opponent is). Well whil driving in my car home I think I might have come
up with a cheap trick to get around that, let me know what you think:

OK, take the guy/gal/critters size and its armor value. Now light armor
you can handle on your own (just subtract from the total given to you by
the player). For heavy armor: For each AV of 1 increase the thing's size
by 1/2 its original size for the purposes of taking wounds.

So a ganger wearing a bullet proof vest (AV 2) would still be size 6 (he
doesn't get any bigger) but for purposes of taking wounds to the
guts/gizzard he would be size: 6 +3 +3 = 12.

Likewise a Mojave Rattler (size 10, AV 2) would be considered size 20 (10
+ 5 +5)

Tests:
The Ganger with the vest is shot by a pistol (3d6). Under the standard
system the AV2 would reduce the pistol to 3d4. Now taking "average" of 3's
on the dice (it's a little above average, but I'm not accounting for
ace's) that's 9 points of damage, or one wound. Under this scheme the
player would roll 3d6, but the marshal would calculate the wound as if the
ganger were size 12 (assuming he got hit in the guts). So "average" on 3d6
is 4+4+4=12, agaisnt size 12 is 1 wound.

Now the rattler: Let's shoot an SA assault rifle (who's going to shoot a
pistol at a rattler?!?), that's 4d8. Against AV 2 that becomes 4d4, or 12
points of damage, or one wound vs. size 10. Now with the rattler treated
as size 20 and the player rolling full damage that's 5+5+5+5=20 points of
damage, or one wound as well.

So what do you guys think? It seems like a decent way to use armor without
having to tell your posse what everyone's wearing.
