This is not a
change. In fact, publishing d20 is a boon to Pinnacle and Hell on Earth
specifically. It brings in more customers to learn the games and support
this company.
Besides which, theres no
need to accuse the d20 players of foul-intent here. It was Pinnacles
decision to publish d20 rules, not d20 players. In fact, we should all
thank the d20 Players for coming to see our great game. d20 may not
translate all the flavor of the classic rules, but it sure as hell has more
flavor than a lot of the d20 games being published.
On top of that, Pinnacle
has already said there won't be any more Hell on Earth books published,
anyways. What difference does it make if the Epitaph articles are
dual-statted? I play classic Deadlands and hell on Earth. I also
play D&D 3E in d20. The fact that Deadlands and hell on Earth are
dual-statted means I have some cool new things to throw in my D&D game that
those players will never see coming, and with little or no work on my part,
since Pinnacle was kind enough to do it for me.
