I've been through this.  I had a doomsayer that decided it was in
her...his...their best interest to keep up an aegis shield through the whole
battle, and others that wanted to cure.  I ruled that aegis, if the spirit
roll was made, effectively kept them out of the fight and using healing
meant that rather than taking out XdX bad guys you'd heal 1d4 wounds.  Just
hope you don't roll low..
